Wendell R. Jolley, 87, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away peacefully after a year and a half long battle with lung cancer. He was under the wonderful care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
He was born July 30, 1922, in Goshen, Idaho to Irvin H. Jolley and Orvella Young Jolley. He graduated from Firth High School.
On May 11, 1945 he married the love of his life, Nelda Laree Andersen Jolley. They had just celebrated their 65
th
wedding anniversary. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with 5 children (whom all were adopted).
Wendell loved farming and raising animals. He worked for Challenge Creamery for many years picking up milk from local dairies. He worked several additional years at Idaho Supreme Potatoes. He loved old westerns, especially those with John Wayne. His greatest joy was his family & spending time with them. Gardening was one of his favorite pastimes. Many enjoyed the fruits of his labor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth Jolley, and a sister, Wilma Andrade.
He is survived by his wife, Laree Jolley of Shelley, ID; a sister, Nelda Jensen of Ammon, ID; his 5 children, David (Pat) Jolley of Yorktown, VA; Vernon (Ida Jo) Jolley of Burton, ID; Todd (Karen) Jolley of Orem, UT; Scott G. Jolley of Shelley, ID; and Maralee (Josh) Cutler of Idaho Falls, ID; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 29, at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, Shelley, ID. The family will meet with friends and family prior to the funeral from 9:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery.
