Winn Lamar Christensen

Winn Lamar Christensen, 94, a longtime resident of Shelley, Idaho, passed away on September 23, 2024, at Legacy Assisted Living in St. George, Utah.

Winn was born on February 19, 1930, in Shelley to Lamar Albert Christensen and Fern Winn. He grew up in Shelley, attending local schools, and was an avid athlete who loved playing on the basketball and football teams.

On January 12, 1950, Winn married Ina Theobald in Shelley, Idaho. Later in life, on January 24, 2015, they were sealed together in the Idaho Falls Temple. For over 70 years, Winn devoted his life to farming in Shelley, working alongside his father and later his son. His dedication to the land was evident, and it was often said that his fields boasted the straightest rows in town. Watching his crops grow and eventually harvesting them brought him great joy.

Winn also found happiness in outdoor activities. He loved water and snow skiing, rafting, fishing, and, in later years, golf. With his wife, he enjoyed traveling south for the winters, where they created many cherished memories.

Winn is survived by his children: Rhonda Hobbs (Craig) of Surprise, Arizona; Larry Winn Christensen of Idaho Falls; Linda Laney (Steve) of Cedar Hills, Utah; and Kathryn Nalder (Greg) of St. George, Utah, and a sister, Barbara Peterson. He also leaves behind a legacy of 29 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ina; his daughter, Cherie; his son, Todd; and one great-grandchild, Marion Earl.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 30, 2024 at the Shelley Stake Center, 325 E Locust Street. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, in Shelley and Monday from 10:00 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
