Yvonne H. Farmer Johnson, 76, of Shelley, passed away March 11, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born on Mother’s Day, May 10, 1931 at home in Arco, Idaho to Lorenzo Stuart Farmer and Hazel Combe Farmer, the 4th child and 1st daughter of 5 children. She went to school in Arco and developed life-long friends.
She married her high school sweetheart, Vernon P. Johnson on Sept 3, 1949 in Pocatello and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple a year later. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She enjoyed a clean house, cooking family dinners, and loved time with her family. She served in the Primary and Cub Scouts. She was a visiting teacher supervisor at the time of her death. She worked as a switchboard telephone operator and a waitress at the Royal Bakery in Arco. Then, as a Nurses Aid at Lost Rivers Hospital, Nurses Technician at the INEL and retired as a custodian at the INEL. We all remember her tasty cookies and delicious Sunday diners. Her favorite holiday was Christmas as she would visit each family. She loved each new baby as she welcomed them into the family.
She is survived by her husband Vernon, children Danny (Diane) of Shelley, Brad (Kathy), Connie (Lou) Aguilar both of Pocatello, LaRon (Raylene), and Todd (Jeannine) both of Shelley, one brother Demar “Tony” (Nona) Farmer of Arco, 17 grandchildren: JoLynn (Bart) Smith, Richard Johnson, Kristy (Mike) Skoy, Scott (Sabrina) Johnson, Douglas (Kristi) Johnson, Matthew & Kyrsten Johnson, Mandie Woodward, Alex Aguilar, Adam & Michael Johnson, Celeste (Ryan) Berger, Ashley (James) Scheller, Chelsea, Jessica, Kendra, & Dustin Johnson, 8 great grandchildren: Colette & Gabriel Smith, David & Kaitlyn Skoy, Hailey Johnson, Mckenna Woodward, Chirstin Johnson, & Eliza Berger. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lloyd and Darrell and a sister Delores Sohn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Shelley LDS 2nd Ward on (325 East Locust St.) with Bishop Barry Hanson conducting. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning at 9:30 till 10:40 at the church. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco.
